PACTS is a new schools initiative that empowers students to influence politicians on climate action.

Elections offer a unique opportunity to engage in politics more than at any other time, and you might be looking for quick and easy ways to involve your students.

PACTS is an exciting new initiative which aims to transform how students understand and engage in the political cycle. It is unique in that it does not just involve letter writing to MPs, but follow-up and questioning of commitments through time.

The PACTS process is a simple, ready-made formula for engaging your students during the General Election and beyond, helping them act on the issues that really matter to them. In doing so, they will learn about and apply critical skills to the real-world, realising their potential as active citizens.

All schools who participate in PACTS will be showcased publicly, with the ambition of securing climate commitments from every MP across the UK, held to account by students.

How does PACTS work?

PACTS is broken down into six digestible activities which can be slotted into the school day, for both primary and secondary

Our pack will take you through each of the PACTS steps from helping your students identify the climate issues they care about, to deciding what action you’ll take as a school, to writing your letters (including templates).

By the end of it, you will have contacted your MP asking for a pledge, and you will be ready to start building a relationship with them. We will celebrate everything you are doing to show how you are helping to grow a national movement.
