At the fourth OSW Learning Lunch, members explored the idea that “Not all education for the environment needs to be about the environment” – an idea discussed by Dr Morgan Phillips, the Director of Education and Youth Engagement at Global Action Plan.
Alongside his work at GAP, Morgan is also an advisor to Black Mountains College, The Glacier Trust, and a governor at New Quay Primary School. Morgan’s new book, Transformative Adaptation, co-authored with Rupert Read and Manda Scott, is available now from Permanent Publications.
Participants, in breakout groups, answered the question “What will environmental education look like in January 2030?”. Members discussed ideas such as “[better environmental education] will definitely need a cultural shift and more integration of ideas of interdependence into every subject, and especially more work at secondary level where it seems harder to ‘fit’ these ideas in.” You can see (and add you own) ideas on our padlet.
