Native Scientist was founded by two researchers in 2013 with the goal of connecting scientists and children across Europe to reduce inequalities, promote quality education and celebrate diversity.
Today, Native Scientist counts on a network of over 3,000 scientists and its educational programs have established over 20,000 connections between scientists and children, particularly under-served children.
Its Native Schools program helps connect children with mentors that share a common heritage language through unique and dynamic science workshops. In these workshops, groups of children take turns at meeting different scientists in a carousel, “speed dating” format, where they can “taste” different field of science and participate in their heritage language. Native Schools’ objective is to broaden the horizons of children, promote scientific literacy and higher education, and foster language development.
